Jerry O. McManus, 66, who retired from the Air Force as a technical sergeant and from Southland Corp. after 20 years of employment, died Jan. 16, 1996.
Mr. McManus was born April 12, 1929, in Bessemer City, N.C., to Curnel and Maggie (Jackson) McManus. He was married Nov. 2, 1957, to Nell Phillips, who survives. Mr. McManus served in the military from 1945 to 1968 and received the Longevity Service Award with four bronze oak-leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal and the Group Commendation Medal. He worked in electronics and communications.
Other survivors include two sons, Gordon of Colorado Springs, and Jerry of Baltimore; two brothers, Kenneth of Portsmouth, and Reid of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Carol Dildine of Suffolk, and Brenda Crouch of Virginia Beach.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at Pikes Peak Funeral Home, Colorado Springs. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today in Circle Drive Baptist Church, 801 N. Circle Drive, with the Rev. Lewis Adkison officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3825 Airport Road.
