Ford's Synergy 2010, left, is a hybrid electric vehicle that runs on

gasoline and electricity. Its all-aluminum unibody construction cuts

weight by 400 pounds. Chrysler's Dodge Intrepid ESX, right, has an

extreme cab-forward design to conserve space. The ESX unibody is 100

percent aluminum.
