Blanche Rodgers Midgett, 86, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 1996, at the residence of her daughter in Manteo, N.C.
She was the widow of Ara E. Midgett Sr., retired U.S. Coast Guard veteran. Mrs. Midgett was a registered nurse and homemaker. She was an active member of Poplar Branch Baptist Church for more than 40 years and recently moved her membership to Manteo Baptist Church.
She is survived by three children: Ara E. Midgett Jr. of Elizabeth City, N.C., Margarette M. Umphlett of Manteo, N.C., and Lynn Rogers Midgett of Saint Augustine, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She has mercifully gone to her home in heaven.
A funeral service will be held Monday, Jan. 22, 1996, at 11 a.m. at the Manteo Baptist Church with the Rev. Bruce Warrington and Rev. Jim Clark officiating. Burial will follow in the Westlawn Cemetery at 3 p.m. in Elizabeth City, N.C. The family will assemble at Twiford's Memorial Chapel in Elizabeth City at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. A visitation is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 21, 1996, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Twiford's Funeral Home, Manteo. Twiford's Colony Chapel, Manteo, is in charge of these arrangements.
