Arthur Joyner, 74, of 184 Moore Farm Lane, died Jan. 19, 1996.
A native of Isle of Wight County, he was the son of the late John T. and Mary L. Fowler Joyner. He was predeceased by a daughter, Betty Jean Joyner.
Mr. Joyner had retired from the Lone Star Cement Co. and the City of Norfolk Water Department. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Oakland Christian Church, the Men's Bible Class, and was a former Deacon. He was a member of the Nansemond Masonic Lodge (NU)77, a past master of Chuckatuck Lodge, and a past master of Masonic District (NU)33.
Survivors include his wife, Daisy Mae Odey Joyner; a daughter, Lillian Warrington of Suffolk; a sister, Carrie Mae Byrum of Portsmouth; a brother, Jackson ``Jack'' Joyner of Windsor; three granddaughters, Danise Archer, Ramona Keays, Amy Cutchins; a grandson, Gene Drake; and two great-grandchildren, Victoria and Matthew Archer.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Oakland Christian Church by the Rev. Mark Burns. Burial will be in Newman Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Newman Memorial Cemetery or to the Becky Godwin Memorial Scholarship Fund, in care of the Oakland Christian Church, 5641 Godwin Blvd., Suffolk, Va. 23432.
