The City Council took the following actions at its meeting Wednesday:
PUBLIC HEARINGS
A. Consideration of an application for ISTEA funds for the CSX Train Station Renovation Project. A resolution endorsing the Downtown Suffolk Association's application for ISTEA funding for the restoration of the CSX Train Station. Approved 7-0.
B. Consideration of the Community Reuse Plan for the Driver Transmitter Facility. Approved to table, 7-0.
ORDINANCES
A. An ordinance accepting and appropriating a grant award of $10,000 from the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles for the Federal 402 Highway Safety Program's Drive 55 project - Second reading. Approved, 7-0.
B. An ordinance appropriating a grant award of $92,820 from the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services for implementation of the Fifth Judicial District Community Corrections Program - Second reading. Approved, 7-0.
C. An ordinance accepting and appropriating state funds in the amount of $17,196 for salary increases for the Constitutional officers, their employees and the registrar - First reading. No vote on first reading.
D. An ordinance accepting and appropriating a grant award of $10,000 from the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles for the highway safety project titled Main Street Corridor Project - First reading. No vote on first reading.
E. An ordinance accepting and appropriating a grant award of $2,500 from the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles for the highway safety project titled Accident Investigation Team - First reading. No vote on first reading.
F. An ordinance appropriating $50,000 from the Unappropriated Fund Balance for a management study - First reading. No vote on first reading.
RESOLUTIONS
A. A resolution requesting the Virginia Department of Transportation to establish an urban project for the improvement of grade crossings at Madison Avenue and east of County Street in the City of Suffolk. Approved, 7-0.
B. A resolution requesting the Virginia Department of Transportation to include Riverfront Drive in the Riverside Estates Subdivision in the State Secondary Road System. Approved, 7-0.
C. A resolution authorizing the transfer of $30,900 from the Parks, Recreation and Facilities Management Department's operating budget (FY 1995-96) for certain maintenance and repair of recreation facilities and public buildings. Approved, 7-0.
D. A resolution approving the refunding of Suffolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority mortgage refunding revenue bonds, Series 1987, and the issuance of SRHA multifamily housing refunding revenue bonds, Series 1996, for the Auburn Place Apartments project in the City of Virginia Beach. Approved, 7-0.
MOTIONS
