Elsie Bishop Jilcott, 97, of the 500 block of Pine St., died Jan. 19, 1996, in her home.
She was a native of Northampton County, N.C. and was the widow of John Hartwell Jilcott Sr. She was a member of Rich Square Baptist Church, Rich Square, N.C., where she was a Sunday school teacher. Shortly after the 1949 death of her husband, she joined Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Association from which she retired as secretary/treasurer in 1965.
She is survived by two daughters, Hazel Jilcott Lane of Roxobel, N.C., Marie Jilcott Baron of Lancaster, Pa.; sister, Eunice Wimcrow Harmon of Portsmouth; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today by the Rev. Bob Rogers in Roxobel-Kelford Cemetery, Roxobel. Garrett Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Roanoke-Chowan Hospice, Ahoskie.
