ACCOUNTING
Rock White was named principal of White & Associates in Chesapeake. He will provide a full range of tax, accounting, payroll and consulting services for small businesses and individuals. He was formerly a vice president for Great Atlantic Real Estate Co. in Hampton.
ADVERTISING
Victoria H. Townsend was named director of media services at The Polizos Agency in Norfolk. She will develop the agency's regional and national print, television and radio strategies, oversee product and industry research, and supervise rate and contract negotiations. Prior to this, she was a media director of Davis & Inc. in Norfolk.
BANKING
Brenda M. Norris was named a vice president of the Bank of Tidewater, Laskin Road. Norris, who manages the office, joined the bank in 1985 and was previously branch officer.
Also, R. Lee Clark was promoted from assistant vice president to vice president at the Bank of Tidewater. He joined the bank in 1989 and was previously credit review officer. He will manage the credit review, internal audit and adjustments departments.
COMPUTERS
George R. Koscho was elected director-at-large by the Data Processing Managing Association, the association of information systems professionals. He is a data services manager with Tidewater Community College, Portsmouth campus.
ENGINEERING
Frank H. Miller Jr. was named senior associate at Langley & McDonald in Virginia Beach. He was the former executive director of the Virginia Peninsulas Public Service Authority. He specializes in solid waste management, recycling, public works and civil and environmental engineering. He is nationally recognized by the American Public Works Association as one of the ``Top 10 Public Works Leaders, 1995.''LAW
Andrew C. Carington was named an associate with Huff, Poole & Mahoney in
Virginia Beach. He will practice in the firm's business department. He received his law degree in 1995 from the University of Richmond's T.C. Williams School of Law.
MANUFACTURING
Dave Rehmus was named vice president and chief financial officer at SwimWays Corp., a Virginia Beach manufacturer of pool products, HydroSlide kneeboards and Skurfer wakeboards. He will be responsible for all financial functions including banking, legal and acquisition issues. He was previously director of logistics.
Kelly Gebauer was promoted from marketing manager to director of marketing for SwimWays. She will be responsible for all marketing, product research, public relations and creative development issues.
And, Lynda Carr was named manager of scheduling and logistic support. She has been with the company for 15 years and will schedule all manufacturing process as well as manage material for the corporation.
RETAIL
Jim Huber was promoted to vice
president of service for Checkered Flag Motor Car Co. in Virginia Beach. Prior to this, he was service manager of Checkered Flag Mitsubishi/Isuzu. He began his career as service director for Checkered Flag Hyundai/Isuzu/Mitsubishi/Suzuki in 1991.
Tim Rayfield was promoted to vice president of sales for Checkered Flag. He was previously general manager of Checkered Flag Toyota. He joined the company in 1986.
And Michael Allen was promoted to general manager for Checkered Flag Toyota. He was previously general sales manager. He began as a sales representative in the Honda division of Checkered Flag in 1983. In 1990 he was promoted to new car sales manager at Checkered Flag Toyota.
MID-ATLANTIC
Farley C. Shiner has joined the equity research department and will serve as vice president and research analyst for the telecommunications industry at Scott & Stringfellow Inc. in Richmond. He was former president and chief executive officer of Virginia MetroTel Inc., a Richmond-based communications company providing competitive access services for the Richmond area.
