Eunice R. Dozier, 91, of 4037 Spring Meadow Crescent in Cedar Grove Acres, departed this life Tuesday, Jan. 16, 1996, in Richmond, Va.
A native of Portsmouth, Mrs. Dozier, who graduated from Virginia State Normal School and Knoxville Teachers College, taught for many years in various Virginia cities before retiring to her native Portsmouth.
Mrs. Dozier was the widow of Leonard W. Dozier and is survived by her daughter, Alverta D.L. Johnson of Richmond. Mrs. Dozier was predeceased by a son, Edward L. Goodwyn, and a daughter, Hilda Frances Goodwyn. Other survivors include a son-in-law, James E. Johnson Jr. of Richmond; two grandchildren, Edrian G. Harriston of Midlothian, Va., and Allen N. Lewis Jr. of Richmond; grandson-in-law, Larry Z. Harriston of Midlothian, and a granddaughter-in-law, Gayle J. Lewis of Richmond; three great-grandchildren, Anthony and Erin Harriston of Midlothian, and Zorynee Lewis of Richmond; a nephew; four nieces; and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews and friends.
The remains rest at Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth, where the family will have a gathering of family and friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today. After 10 a.m. on Tuesday, her remains will rest at Zion Baptist Church, 527 Green St., Portsmouth, where funeral services will be conducted at noon. The Rev. H.E. Whitaker and the Rev. Patricia Coker-Bell will be officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
