Hilda F. Goodwyn
CHESAPEAKE - Hilda Frances Goodwyn, 65, of 4037 Spring Meadow Crescent in Cedar Grove Acres, departed this life on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 1996, in Richmond.
A native of Emporia, Ms. Goodwyn graduated from Norfolk State University and received a master's degree from RPI (now VCU). She worked for 27 years and retired from the Portsmouth Department of Social Services as a social work supervisor. She was a member of NASW, BASW and the Academy of Certified Social Workers.
Ms. Goodwyn was the daughter of Mrs. Eunice R. Dozier, deceased, and was predeceased by a brother, Edward L. Goodwyn. Ms. Goodwyn is survived by a sister, Alverta D.L. Johnson, and a brother-in-law, James E. Johnson Jr. of Richmond; a niece, Edrian G. Harriston, and a nephew-in-law, Larry Z. Harriston of Midlothian, Va.; a nephew, Allen N. Lewis Jr., and a niece-in-law, Gayle J. Lewis of Richmond; two great-nieces and a great-nephew; four godchildren; a host of cousins; great-cousins and special friends.
Remains rest at Corprew Funeral Home, 1822 Portsmouth Blvd., Portsmouth, where the family will have a gathering of family and friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today. After 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, her remains will rest at Zion Baptist Church, 527 Green St., Portsmouth where funeral services will be conducted at noon. The Rev. H.E. Whitaker and the Rev. Patricia Coker-Bell will officiate. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
