Inez T. Thomas, 86, of the 1200 block of Davis Ave., went to be with the Lord on Jan. 20, 1996, in Chesapeake.
Mrs. Thomas was born in Martin County, N.C. and was the widow of Hunter Preston Thomas and Thomas R. Tarkenton Sr. She was a member of Congregational Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church in Chesapeake.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ralph W. Haywood of Chesapeake; a son, the Rev. Thomas Raymond Tarkenton of Grandy, N.C.; five sisters, Daisy Rogerson, Marie Jones, Naomi Page and Marlene Smith, all of Chesapeake and Eva Festa of Virginia Beach; three brothers, Merle Rawls, John Rawls and Thomas Rawls, all of Chesapeake; four grandchildren, Thomas R. Tarkenton III of Italy, Danese Marett of Chesapeake, Merry Beth Pettitt and Holly Anne Hayes, both of Orlando, Fla.; three great-grandchildren, Timothy Tarkenton of Italy, Brandon Marett and Amanda Marett, both of Chesapeake.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. Marshall Stewart and the Rev. Clyde Shelton. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and at the residence at all other times.
