Annarino was outside when police, responding to the child's call, arrived about 4 a.m. at the Sundowner Motel in the 2700 block of Pacific Avenue. Instead of fleeing, Annarino ran back to the suite and tried to block officers from entering, police said.
Once inside, police found the body of his recently estranged wife, Regina Michelle Annarino, 31, said Don Rimer, a police spokesman. They also found the couple's three children.
The suite has three bedrooms, a kitchen and a living room. Rimer said two other girls, ages 9 and 7, were found inside sleeping. ``We don't know if they were actually witnesses or not,'' he said.
The children have been taken into custody by the Virginia Beach Department of Social Services.
Rimer said the couple had been living at the motel for some time, although he was uncertain how long. He said Hans Annarino had moved out a couple of weeks ago, however.
