The Rev. Ralph Newby Todd, 84, of the 900 block of Haledon Road, died Jan. 21, 1996, in Chesapeake.
He was born in Shallotte, N.C. He was a retired minister from the Pentecostal Holiness Church and was a member of Chesapeake First Pentecostal Holiness Church. His pastorates included Stumpy Point, N.C., Virginia Beach and Gum Neck, N.C. He was also retired as an insurance agent from Home Beneficial Insurance Co.
Survivors include his wife, Ozell F. Todd; a daughter, Merlie Rhodes of Suffolk; three stepdaughters, Bernice W. Batts of Lynchburg, Yvonne W. MacLean of San Jose, Calif., and Carolyn W. Kemp of Walhalla, S.C.; a stepson, Charles E. Wood of Virginia Beach; two half brothers, Hulbert Todd of Richmond and Fred Todd of Shallotte; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Wednesday in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, by the Rev. Wayne Sawyer and the Rev. Carroll Hurley. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the funeral home from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. today.
