Clarence Wilson Maddox, 76, of the 1200 block of South Battlefield Blvd., died Monday, Jan. 22, 1996, in a Chesapeake hospital.
Mr. Maddox was born in Roanoke, Va., and was the son of the late Harry Ritten Maddox and Gertrude McGuire Sink and the stepson of the late Will Sink. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Silas A. Maddox of Springfield, Va. He had retired in 1974 as an inspector supervisor from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 29 years of service. He attended Great Bridge Baptist Church. He was a member of Portsmouth Moose Lodge (NU)898 and a former member of the Civil Air Patrol. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen R. Maddox; his daughter, Shelby Jean Frisby of Portsmouth; his son, Michael E. Maddox of Chesapeake; his stepdaughter, Linda Leanu of Elizabeth City, N.C.; his stepson, Kenneth Wright of Chesapeake; a sister, Evelyn Mynes of Richmond, Va.; a brother, Harry Dalhart Maddox of Roanoke; five grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, 1996, in Great Bridge Baptist Church by the Rev. Charles Moseley. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake. The family will receive friends in Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, from 7 to 9 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons International, Chesapeake, East Camp, P.O.
