A man armed with a handgun robbed the Subway restaurant on North Main Street Friday night.
The suspect entered the restaurant, in the Suffolk Shopping Center, about 11:20 p.m., brandished a 9mm handgun and demanded money, said Suffolk Police spokesman Mike Simpkins. The man forced the two employees into an unlocked freezer, then left with the cash, Simpkins said.
The suspect was described as black, 24 years old, 5 foot 10 inches tall and wearing a black, hooded sweat shirt, ski mask, jeans and shoes. A customer who was in the store shortly before the incident may have information helpful to police. Anyone who was in or near the Subway shortly after 11 p.m. is asked to contact Detective J.D.
