GEORGIA B. SWEAT

Georgia B. Sweat, 82, of the 2600 block of Ruffin Way, died Jan. 21, 1996, in her home.

She was a retired mess attendant at the Naval Hospital where she had worked for 30 years. She was a native of Elizabeth City, N.C. She was a Baptist and a member of United Order of Tent.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Sweat of Norfolk; a daughter, Rosetta Mosley of Virginia Beach; two sons, Thomas L. Sweat of New Jersey, James E. Sweat of Hampton; a sister, Virginia Ward of Virginia Beach; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her mother, Minnie White Griffin, and her father, Karto Griffin.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday by Elder Edward Foreman in Hale Funeral Home Chapel. There will be a wake service Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the home Friday at noon for the procession to the chapel. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
