NORFOLK - Sarah H. Calhoun, 99, of the 900 block of Druid Circle, died Jan. 22, 1996, in Norfolk Community Hospital.
Mrs. Calhoun, the widow of James Calhoun, was a housewife and a native of Goldsboro, N.C. She was a member of First Calvary Baptist Church, Norfolk, where she was involved in the Deaconess Board, Mothers Board, Usher Board, Missionary Circle, Metropolitan Club, Rising Sun St. Mark's Benevolent Society, and a choir member. She was also a member of United Order of Tents, Philena (NU)214, (NU)1 B Elks Lodge, and P.J. Wallace Club. Mrs. Calhoun was an Honored Mother of the Church in 1985.
Survivors include four grandchildren, Matthew L. Hagans Jr. of California, George E. Hagans, Charles L. Freeman and Prentis Pretlow, all of Norfolk; 11 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in First Calvary Baptist Church by Dr. J.L. White Sr. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. There will be a wake service from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. today. The family and friends will assemble at Hale Funeral Home Chapel at 10 a.m. Friday.
