JAMES JACKSON JR.

Rev. James Jackson Jr., 61, of the 3900 block of Holly Cove Drive, died Jan. 25, 1996, in Maryview Medical Center.

Mr. Jackson, a native of Sumter, S.C., was a member of New First Baptist Church, Taylorsville, where he was an associate minister. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Jackson was the son of the late Deaconess Ethel Jackson and Deacon James Jackson Sr.

Survivors include his wife, Goldie Jackson; two daughters, Joyce A. Ricks of Norfolk and Alta Ricks of Orlando, Fla.; a son, Ephesia T. Jackson of Hallsboro, N.C.; four sisters, Dorothy M. Clark and Eloise J. Casper, both of Chesapeake, Virginia M. Holland of Portsmouth and Ethel B. Coleman of Altus, Okla.; three brothers, Eddie L. Kelley and Thomas C. Kelley, both of Portsmouth, and Johnnie L. Jackson of Bordertown, N.J.; 10 grandchildren; an uncle, Ronnie Bethune of Sumter; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Tuesday in New First Baptist Church by Dr. T.M. Steele. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Serenity Funeral Home, Portsmouth, and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon at the church. Family and friends will assemble at 3969 Holly Cove Drive, Chesapeake, at 11:15 a.m. for the procession to the church. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
