David R. Goode, Norfolk Southern Corp.'s chairman, president and chief executive, has been named to the board of Texas Instruments Inc. The Dallas-based technology company makes semiconductors, defense electronics systems; software; and printers, notebook computers and consumer electronics products. Goode joins TI's 11-member board Feb. 1. Goode also sits on the boards of Caterpillar Inc., Georgia-Pacific Corp. and TRINOVA Corp. He's a director of the Association of American Railroads and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and a trustee of Hollins College.

Sue Page Knapp has acquired a business license in Norfolk to operate Page 2 Public Relations. Page 2 will specialize in representing not-for-profit organizations, artists and musicians.
HONORS, AWARDS
Sorbilite Inc., a manufacturer of composite molding systems and membrane presses in Virginia Beach, was one of five companies in the country to received the 1994 Sequoia award for environmental innovations and techniques at the Woodworking Machinery and Furniture Supply fair. Sorbilite produces a chemical technology system and creates molding equipment allowing furniture and woodworking manufacturers to mold wood waste into medium density fiberboard-quality value-added products.
Debbie Ford Crelly, district manager of the Children's World Learning Centers, received the company's president's award for 1995. The award is given for improvements, program management, finance, and health and safety. Crelly oversees the operations of the 12 child care centers in the Hampton Roads area, encompassing some 1,600 children and about 200 employees.

Business bankruptcies filed in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Norfolk:
Andrew Charles Smith and Sherry Dale Smith, Smitty's Security System, filed Chapter 13 debt repayment plan on Jan. 23 with assets of $31,458 and liabilities of $71,584.20
Michael J. Larocco and Russlyn L. Larocco, formerly trading as Mike & Rusty's Wholesale, and Mike & Rusty's Sports Cards II, and trading as Mike & Rusty's Sports Cards, filed Chapter 13 debt repayment plan on Jan. 23 with assets of $282,348 and liabilities of $662,855.01.

Dobson Construction in Newport News received a $586,500 contract for radio shop and traffic operations building at the PW operations center in Newport News.
Virtexco Corp. in Norfolk received $566,350 contract for base pools, repair and alterations to the recreation center at Langley Air Force Base.
McKenzie Construction Corp. in Virginia Beach received a $1.6 million for a Nags Head Municipal complex.
E.V. Williams Co. Inc. in Norfolk for beach restoration and maintenance in Virginia Beach.
