J. Herman Seward, 94, a lifelong resident of Surry County, died Sunday. At the time of his death, he was the oldest living member of Moores Swamp Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Bickers Seward.
Funeral services will be held in Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, on Tuesday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Moores Swamp Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the church or to Surry Rescue Squad.
