Katie A. Peebles, 87, of the 1000 block of E. Washington St., died Jan. 27, 1996, at her residence.
She was a native of Nansemond County and the daughter of the late Henderson and Malinda Scott Peebles. She was a member of Tabernacle UCC Church and retired as a nurses' aide from MCV Hospital in Richmond. She was predeceased by two granddaughters, Wanda Faye Peebles and Karen Kay Peebles, and her eight sisters and brothers.
Surviving are a son, Henry L.J. Peebles; a granddaughter, Rhonda Peebles Holland and her husband, Randy; a grandson, Rodney K. Peebles; and a nephew.
A funeral will be held Tuesday at noon in Tabernacle UCC Church by the Rev. Carlton R. Upton Sr. Burial will be in Mount Sinai Church Cemetery, Suffolk. The body will be taken from Peebles Funeral Home to the church at 10 a.m. The family will be at the funeral home at 7 p.m. today.
