The Jan. 6 article on the impending storm (``Storm may drop a foot . . .'') was very informative, but it failed! You would have been better off using the ``Driving Tips'' space for advertisement.
Drivers in Hampton Roads don't need instructions on how to drive in poor weather. We're all experts. Everyone around here is a smart and safe driver.
We live in a busy society: Who has time to slow down, maintain safe distances or clean all the snow off the car?
Hampton Roads drivers' mentality is as follows:
(1) The speed limit is 55 mph; therefore, any speed slower is unacceptable (actually 55 is too slow).
(2) The only visibility I need is an opening on my windshield large enough for me to see out.
(3) If I leave too much space between me and the car ahead, someone will merge in front of me.
(4) If I turn on my headlights or use my turn signals, I'll burn out my alternator.
Hampton Roads drivers should get a clue! Driving in the snow requires smart driving.
