The Manteo Town Board will hold an informal meeting from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday to gather public opinions for a study about police services being conducted by the North Carolina Academy of Justice.
A survey form is being mailed to every address in Manteo that's listed on the town's water system. Other residents who would like to complete surveys may pick one up at the Police Department or town manager's office. Each survey must be mailed back to the Justice Academy.
Surveys are to help the Justice Academy conduct a larger study. The study is intended to help Manteo's Police Department set goals, compare current management practices with generally accepted police practices and provide specific training in community policing.
At Wednesday's meeting, the public is invited to meet with representatives from the Justice Academy to ask questions, express ideas or concerns, or give input on any local law enforcement-related issue.
