WRONG MAKEUP DAYS

I was completely disgusted when I learned of the snow makeup days for Norfolk public schools.

The school policy on this is that days should be made up on the next single-day holiday that's available. Why was this not done?

Our school superintendent says that people had already planned long weekend vacations. Most people didn't go anywhere because of all the snow on the East Coast.

Our children now have to make up those days on President's Day and Memorial Day, when actually it should have been Martin Luther King Jr. Day and President's Day.

I certainly hope that our school system will review this and realize the mistake that has been made.

Memorial Day is a national holiday honoring those who died in war.

Should we forget honoring them and send our children to school? I know that my children will not be in school on this important day of remembrance.
