BARBARA W. CANDO

Barbara Virginia Witzl Cando, 75, of the 4300 block of Southern Blvd., died at Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital on Monday Jan. 29, 1996.

She was the daughter of the late Martin W. and Anna Lawler Witzl and the wife of James Carmino Cando. Mrs. Cando was born in Norfolk on Dec. 26, 1920 and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Norfolk.

Besides her husband, she is survived by five daughters, Ester Cando Bunch of Fairburn, Ga., Theresa Cando Nelson of Virginia Beach, Barbara Cando Riggs of New Bern, N.C., Catherine Cando Kreismanis of Williamson, Ga., and Mary Cando Hardesty of Virginia Beach; three sons, James Carmino Cando Jr. of Raleigh, N.C., Robert Mark Cando and David Anthony Cando, both of Virginia Beach; a brother, Francis Witzl of Florida; 19 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Barbara Cando was a loving wife and mother and a special grandmother. She was loved by all who knew her. Her family was her life and her friends were like family. She will be missed by all who came in contact with her and her unforgettable strength of character.

The family will receive friends at Kellum Funeral Home, Bonney Road Chapel, today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and at other times at the residence of Brock and Theresa Nelson, 1661 Baypoint Drive, Virginia Beach. The funeral will be private. Kellum Funeral Home, Bonney Road Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
