Leroy Howard ``Feeo'' Filhiol Sr., of the 6600 block of Whitehorn Drive, departed this life on the late afternoon of Jan. 25, 1996. He was born March 17, 1931, in Princess Anne County to the late Clarence and Lena Howard Filhiol.
Mr. Filhiol, a retired police officer, worked for the Naval Public Works Center. He was a member of First Church of Christ Holiness, U.S.A., Norfolk. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Mr. Filhiol was the husband of the late Annie Mae Filhiol. Six children were born of this union: four daughters, Valerie Filhiol of Virginia Beach, Colette Williams of Chesapeake, Janaf West of Virginia Beach and Velma Griffin of Chesapeake; two sons, Leroy H. Filhiol Jr. and Lesalle H. Filhiol, both of Norfolk; there was also a stepdaughter, Joyce Johnson of North Carolina. He later married Kathy Ann Wilson, formerly of Chesapeake.
Other survivors include a god daughter, Kiara Felicia Floyd; a special devoted friend, Gladys Sumner, both of Norfolk; two aunts, Ella Howard of Gloucester, Va., and Mildred Howard of Norfolk; three brothers, Aubrey Filhiol of Chesapeake, Clarence Filhiol of Norfolk and Jesse Filhiol of Virginia Beach; 11 grandchildren; three sons-in-law, Steven West, Ronald Williams, and Cecil Griffin; a daughter-in-law, Hope Filhiol; a mother-in-law, Mary Stewart; a father-in-law, Willie Wilson; mother-in-law, Anne Wilson; three sisters-in-law, Vivian Filhiol, Marie Filhiol and Anna Mae Johnson; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by a sister, Ellareen Filhiol Bland.
The funeral will be conducted at noon Friday at First Church of Christ Holiness U.S.A. by Bishop Eugene Brown Sr. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will assemble at the residence the day of the service. There will be a wake service Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Friday.
