VANLEIGH B. WOOD

Vanleigh B. Wood, 69, of the 4100 block of Holly Cove Drive, died Jan. 26, 1996, in Maryview Hospital.

She was a retired teacher's aide for Busy Bee Day Care for over five years. She was a native of Edenton, N.C., and a member of Faith Temple C.O.

G.I.C., Norfolk, where she participated on the missionary board.

She is survived by her husband, Frank Wood of Chesapeake; four daughters, Christine Banks, Sharon Hutchinson, both of Chesapeake, Constance Johnson of Norfolk, and Donna Gray of Virginia Beach; four sons, William Johnson of Florida, Maurice Johnson of Norfolk, David Johnson and Steven Johnson, both of Chesapeake; four sisters, Emma B. Jones of Chesapeake, Millie Coston of North Carolina, Flurine Brown of Portsmouth, and Rosa B. Joyner of Edenton, N.C.; three brothers, William P. Brown of New York, Earnest Brown of Norfolk, and Ervin Brown of Washington, D.C.; 25 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lelia S. and William D. Brown.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday by Pastor Elder James Williams in Faith Temple C.O.G.I.C., 645 West 37th St., Norfolk. Burial will be in Gravel Hill Community Cemetery, Fluvanna County. There will be a wake service today in Hale Funeral Chapel from 7 to 8 p.m. Family and friends will assemble at the home on Thursday at 9 a.m. for the funeral procession to the church.
