2ND SUSPECT CHARGED IN PENINSULA SLAYING

A 17-year-old Newport News youth was arrested Tuesday morning in connection with the October shooting death of Calvin R. Davis, according to police spokeswoman Patty Mahaffy.

He was the second person charged in the slaying.

The teen, whose name was not released because of his age, surrendered at police headquarters at 8:30a.m. and was charged with murder and use of a firearm. He was being held in a juvenile detention facility, Mahaffy said.

Davis, 21, was shot after a dispute in the 500 block of Bellwood Road Oct. 20. He later died at a hospital from a gunshot wound. Davis lived in the 500 block of Youngs Mill Lane.

Antwaine M. Richardson, 19, was taken into custody two days later. He was charged with murder and a firearm violation in the slaying.
