MARION C. VALENTINE

Marion Crawford Valentine, 81, of the 3500 block of Forrest Court, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 1996, in his residence.

He was a native of Fremont, N.C., and retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, where he worked as a shipfitter for Shop 11. He was a Baptist and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Marion Inez H. Valentine; three daughters, Shirley V. Sondej and Brenda V. Smith, both of Portsmouth, and Linda V. Wood of Chesapeake; two sons, William Glen Valentine of Memphis, Tenn., and Gary C. Valentine of Chesapeake; a sister, Lillian V. Holland of Pikeville, N.C.; and 13 grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday in Olive Branch Cemetery by the Rev. Nelson F. Fields and the Rev. Leon Basham. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at 104 Snead Fairway, Portsmouth. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Maryview Wellspring Home Care, 3636 High St., Portsmouth, Va. 23707.
