Jaccie Farrow Burrus Jr., 78, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 1996, at his residence.
Mr. Burrus was born in Manns Harbor, N.C., and was a commercial fisherman. He was the former owner/operator of Atlantic View Cottages in Nags Head, a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church for over 50 years, was a Mason with the Manteo Lodge (NU)521 AF & AM for over 50 years, and a former member of the Dare County Board of Education. He was the son of the late Jaccie Farrow Burrus Sr. and the late Bertie Midgett Burrus and was raised by the late William F. ``Bug'' Tillett and the late Mrs. Mattie Beasley Tillett. He was the husband of Thelma Mann Burrus of the home.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Moncie ``Wanda'' Daniels of Manteo, N.C.; and one son, Jaccie F. ``Jay'' Burrus III, also of Manteo; one brother, Richard Mann of Manns Harbor; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Tosto officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Building Fund, Manns Harbor, N.C. 27953. The family will receive friends at the residence. Twifords Colony Chapel, Manteo, is in charge of these arrangements.
