MARY W. FORBES

Mary Ward Forbes, 84 of Wanchese, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 1996, in Chesapeake.

Mrs. Forbes was a homemaker and a member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Wanchese. She was a member of the Order of the Pocohontas. Mrs. Forbes was the daughter of the late Henry Bryan Ward and the late Mrs. Lillie Pugh Ward. She was the widow of Eastman Hughes Forbes. Mrs. Forbes was preceded in death by her son, Eastman Z. Forbes, and her grandson, Richard Tillett.

Mrs. Forbes is survived by three daughters, Mary F. Gallop of Wanchese, Tessie F. Clark of Chesapeake and Mrs. Ruth Tillett of Hampton; one brother, Norman S. ``Terp'' Ward of Manteo; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A chapel service will be conducted in the Twiford Colony Chapel, Manteo, on Friday at noon by the Revs. Tom Rupp, David Daniels and David Stowe. Burial will follow in Cudworth Cemetery, Wanchese. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Twiford Funeral Home, Manteo, is in charge of arrangements.
