Linwood Earl Vann, 77, of the 600 block of Woodland Drive, died Jan. 30, 1996, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Norfolk.
He was retired from Union Camp Corp. and was owner and operator of Murfreesboro Nursery. He was a native of Hertford County, N.C., and was a member of Murfreesboro Baptist Church. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Barrett Vann; two sons, R. Brent Vann of Fieldale, Va., and Earl B. Vann of Franklin; two sisters, Viola Saunders of Hopewell, Va., Edith Riggins of Greenville, S.C.; two brothers, Jesse Vann of Dublin, N.C., and Robert Vann of Franklin, Va.; grandchildren, Keith Vann of Columbia, S.C., Melanie Vann of Cary, N.C., Elizabeth Vann of Atlanta, Ga., and Catherine Vann of Charlottesville, Va.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday by Dr. Davis Smith and the Rev. Ira Hudgins in Murfreesboro Baptist Church. Burial is in Riverside Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Garrett Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to Murfreesboro Baptist Church or Murfreesboro Rescue Squad, Murfreesboro, 27855.
