Mildred Fuller Shepherd, 78, of the 4000 block of Greenway Court West, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 1996, in a Portsmouth hospital.
She was a native of Richmond, Va., and was the widow of Clifton W. Shepherd Sr. She was retired from Maryview Hospital as a medical secretary and was a member of West End United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Richard Dale Womens Club and the Beasley Senior Citizens.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda S. Owen of Chesapeake; two sons, Skip Shepherd of Portsmouth and Charles Richard Shepherd of Ft. Myers, Fla.; sister, Mary F. Buhls of Chesapeake; two stepsisters, Pat Flemming of Richmond and Jean Passero of Merrett Island, Fla.; four grandchildren, Keith Owen, Brandon Owen, Don Gates and Kelly Gates; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in West End United Methodist Church by the Rev. Elisha Jones. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West End United Methodist Church.
