A brief about a voter registration booth at Norfolk State
University should have stated that any Virginia resident can
register to vote and no identification is required. The brief
appeared in Wednesday's MetroNews section and in today's Compass.
The NSU booth, at Joe Echols Hall, will be open during Monday's
Virginia Union-Norfolk State basketball doubleheader.
A story Wednesday about Guantanamo Bay Naval Station erred in
saying that Cuban refugees are treated like any other immigrants.
They have refugee status and, in addition to certain benefits, do
not require a sponsor to enter this country.
Also, a front-page graphic with that story should have said that
closing of the refugee camps leaves the base with little function
other than as a supply center for ships operating in the Caribbean.
A wrong locale was mentioned.
A phone number to call for pain matters or weight management was
wrong in Monday's Daily Break Health & Fitness calendar. The correct
number is 490-5550.
