U.S. Rep. Walter B. Jones Jr., R-N.C., and other members of the Republican Mainstream Conservative Alliance met at a press conference Wednesday in the nation's Capitol with the Democrat group, the Coalition, to launch a bipartisan effort to encourage cooperation.
The two groups, known together as ``Blue Dogs,'' presented their ``Civility Pledge,'' which is designed to restore balance respect, and good relations to the legislative process.
The Alliance was formed last year to establish an on-going working relationship with Coalition members on mutually agreeable issues. Together, the groups represent a bloc of more than 60 conservative Republican and Democrat votes in the House of Representatives. by CNB
