I am grateful to Dr. Robert Su for the article on managed care (Another View, Jan. 23).
There have been many timely articles published recently on the pitfalls of managed care today, including an article in Money Magazine, Dec. 15; Time magazine, Jan. 8 and 15; Readers Digest's February edition; U.S. News and World Report, Jan. 15; and a recent Redbook, all of which give support to the belief that today it is not so much managed care as managed cost, greatly to the detriment of the HMO patient's care.
