A motel housekeeper found a 31-year-old woman dead in a room early Thursday and police are investigating the case as a homicide.
Police spokeswoman Elizabeth Jones identified the woman as Josephine E. Trent of the 3000 block of Tournament Drive. Jones said Trent had been stabbed several times.
Trent checked into the Village Motel near the junction of Military and George Washington highways late Wednesday and was found dead on the floor 11 hours later, police said.
Jones didn't know if Trent went to the motel by herself. Jones said no suspects are in custody and she did not know of a motive.
Police are asking anyone with information to call 487-1234.
