Katie Sutton, 81, of the 3200 block of Dunworken Drive, died Jan. 31, 1996, in her daughter's home in Portsmouth.
She was born in Nansemond County, Va., and was the widow of Obie Sutton. She was a former member of Union Baptist Church, Shoulders Hill, Suffolk.
She is survived by a daughter, Vanessa Spivey of Portsmouth; four sons, Walter Bailey, Melton Bailey and Harold Sutton, all of Chesapeake, and Charles Bailey of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one sister, Elizabeth Griffin of Brooklyn; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; an uncle, William Bremby; nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
A funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Corprew Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. C.V. Russell Sr. presiding. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery, Portsmouth. A viewing at the funeral home will begin at noon today. The family will be at home of her son, Harold Sutton, 3305 Normandy Court, Chesapeake and will assemble there for the funeral.
