Edward Walter Cohoon, 83, of Hertford, N.C. and formerly of Chesapeake, died Thursday, Feb. 1, 1996, in an Elizabeth City nursing home.
Mr. Cohoon was born in Tyrrell County, N.C. He was the son of the late Ben and Ruth Hussey Cohoon and the widower of Inez Sawyer Cohoon. He retired as a captain with the Naval Air Station Fire Department after 27 years of service.
Survivors include his daughter, Carolyn Bengsch of Fall River, Wis.; son, Douglas Cohoon of Elizabeth City; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge. Interment will be in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens.
