Mitchell Edward Foster, 70, of the 8000 block of Kirby Haigh Circle, died Friday, Feb. 2, 1996, at his residence.
Mr. Foster, a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service. He was retired from the Norfolk Sheriff's Department after 25 years. He was born in Harbinger, N.C., and was a member of the Powells Point Christian Church, Powells Point, N.C. He was the son of the late Orlando Mitchell Foster and was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Herrimann.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy M. Foster of Norfolk; his mother, Sudie Voliva Evans of Harbinger, N.C.; two sons, Thomas Foster of Aydlett, N.C., and Michael Foster of Norfolk; three daughters, Carol Ford of South Colton, N.Y., Deborah McKeon of Downingtown, Pa., and Sheila Bickers of Chesapeake; a sister, Margaret Williams of Point Harbor, N.C.; and seven grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday in Powells Point Christian Church by the Rev. Cecil Styron. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Twiford Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, Great Bridge, Chesapeake, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
