WINSTON S. WILLIAMS

Winston S. Williams, 51, of the 500 block of Roland Drive, died Jan. 31, 1996, in Sentara Leigh Hospital.

He was a native of Norfolk but lived and worked in New York City for more than 25 years. There he resided in the 400 block of Edgecombe Ave. Mr. Williams graduated with honors from Booker T. Washington High School. He did undergraduate work at Brown University and received his Master's degree in Journalism from Columbia University in New York. He started his career in Pittsburgh as bureau chief for Business Week Magazine. He was employed as a financial correspondent for The New York Times for 11 years. His most recent employment was with Knight Ridder News Service as a chief commodities reporter. He was a member of the trustee board of Mt. Olivett Baptist Church, N.Y.

Mr. Williams is survived by his mother, Florence W. Williams of Norfolk; four sisters, Barbara W. Jones and Constance Williams of Norfolk, Carolyn W. Sanderson of Los Angeles and Denise Williams Nwannunu of Chicago, Ill.; five brothers, Harry Williams of New York, Jerome Williams Esq. of Los Angeles, Crosby Williams of Norfolk, Stanley Williams of Hillcrest Heights, Md., and Miles Williams of New York. He was predeceased by his father, John Williams, and his brothers, John Jr. and Grady C. Williams.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday by Dr. G.G. Campbell in New Calvary Baptist Church, 800 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Viewing will be Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. at Riddick Funeral Home. The body will be placed at the church at noon Monday. The family will be at 509 Roland Drive.
