William F. Merck II, the vice president for administration and finance at the College of William and Mary, will leave March 1 to take a similar job at the University of Central Florida in Orlando.
Merck oversaw the construction of buildings such as the University Center and helped craft the college's budget.
``Bill Merck's vision and skill helped take these projects from design through construction,'' said Timothy J. Sullivan, the college's president. ``During his tenure, there has been a visual transformation on our campus noted by our visitors and enjoyed by our students and faculty.''
Samuel E. Jones, vice president for planning and budget, will take on Merck's duties until a replacement is found.
Also, the college announced that William T. Walker Jr. will become its director of university information. Walker, a graduate of the University of Virginia, has been associate vice president for public relations at Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania since 1989. by CNB
