Two Manteo men have been arrested and charged with armed robbery in the holdup last Tuesday of the 7-Eleven store in Whalebone Junction, Nags Head police and the sheriff's office said Saturday.
Being held in the detention center on Roanoke Island were Sharron A. Farrow, 19, and James A. Harris, 17, said Nags Head Police Chief Charles Cameron. Farrow was being held on bond of $25,000; Harris, $35,000.
Cameron said they were arrested in Manteo on Friday after an investigation and tips from callers with information about the robbery, in which less than $100 was taken.
The investigation was conducted by Lt. Cliff Midgett and Detective Steve Clinard of the Nags Head police, and Sgt. Philip Etheridge and investigators Doug Doughtie and Philip Ferguson of the Sheriff's Department.
Cameron said he and Sheriff Bert Austin wanted to ``express our appreciation'' for the numerous calls to the Dare County Crime Line and to individual officers who helped lead to the arrests. He also said the gunmen were photographed by a surveillance camera in the store.
``We don't get many armed robberies on the Outer Banks, so it's good to make the arrests and get these guys off the street,'' Cameron said.
