ARCHITECTURE
Catherine F. Meyers was named a project manager and director of codes compliance at Kroskin Design Group - Architects in Norfolk. She most recently worked at Forrest Coile Associates in Newport News. She is a licensed architect and specializes in health care, educational and industrial design.
Leigh Tunnell was named an interior designer at Cox, Kliewer & Co. in Virginia Beach. She was previously employed by Kansas Lighting Distributors in Wichita, Kan.
BANKING
Amy C. Bowden was promoted to senior vice president at Central Fidelity National Bank. She currently serves as group manager of the bank's Peninsula commercial division at Oyster Point in Newport News. She joined the bank in 1989.
Linda A. Weiler, D. Norman Addington Jr. and Dorinda Seddon were promoted from branch officers to assistant vice presidents at the Bank of Tidewater. Weiler, who manages the Kempsville office, joined the bank in 1985. Addington, who joined the bank in 1988, manages the Battlefield Boulevard office. Seddon joined the bank in 1991. She manages the bank's Independence office.
Eleanor J. Whitehurst, chief financial officer, was promoted from vice president to senior vice president at Resource Bank in Virginia Beach. She has been with the bank since 1992.
Also, L. Jayne Wood was promoted from assistant vice president to vice president at Resource Bank. She has been with the bank since 1994 and serves as branch manager.
And, Nancy M. Earley was promoted to assistant vice president. She is the credit analyst and manager of the credit department. She has been with the bank since 1993.
ACCOUNTING
Cathy Trombly was named a tax associate at Coopers & Lybrand in Virginia Beach. Also, Holly Powell and Steve Reader were promoted from business assurance associates to senior associates. And John Caldwell and Jim Burnett, previously tax associates, were promoted to senior associates. Burnett is based in Newport News.
CHAMBER
The Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, Portsmouth Division, board of directors approved Derrick Shirley, manager of Port Operations at Sea-Land Services Inc. in Portsmouth, as a board member. The board of directors also approved Donald Newberry, Portsmouth fire chief and Dennis Mook, Portsmouth police chief, as ex-officio board members.
HEALTH CARE
Patricia A. Masters was named director of continuing medical education at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Prior to this, she was program manager for continuing medical education at St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Fla.
LAW
Adam S. Rafal was named an associate at the law firm of Joseph Smith Ltd. in Hampton. He will concentrate his practice in civil litigation. He is a 1995 graduate of the Marshall-Wythe School of Law of the College of William and Mary.
Matthew C. Sunderlin and Carl J. Stevens were named associates at David D. Dickerson and Associates in Virginia Beach. Both will practice in the areas of creditor's rights, landlord-tenant law, family law and estate planning.
Lynn E. Watson, Jason R. Davis and John R. Lockard were named associates with Heilig, McKenry, Fraim & Lollar in Norfolk. Watson will practice in insurance defense and civil litigation. She was a law clerk to Justice Christian Compton, Supreme Court of Virginia. Davis will practice in the areas of medical malpractice insurance defense and civil litigation. He was a law clerk for the U.S. District Court Judge William T. Prince in Norfolk. Lockard will practice in the areas of insurance subrogation and collections. He was formerly with Huff, Poole and Mahoney in Virginia Beach.
Judith M. Cofield was named a member to the Virginia Beach firm of Stallings and Richardson. She will continue to practice in the areas of medical malpractice, personal injury and civil litigation. She was formerly a partner with Shuttleworth, Ruloff & Giordano in Virginia Beach.
MEDIA
Anne Cordts was named general sales manager for WTKR-TV in Norfolk. Prior to this, she was manager of business development for the television station.
TRANSPORTATION
James C. Bishop Jr. was named executive vice president-law for Norfolk Southern Corp., succeeding John S. Shannon, who retires March 1 after nearly 40 years with the company.
