John A. Barclift, 54, of the 3500 block of Towne Point Road, a retired teacher for the Portsmouth Public School System, died Feb. 1, 1996.
He was a member of Zion Baptist Church and was a past member of Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church, Elizabeth City, N.C.
He is survived by one son, Darren Barclift; two sisters, Joyce B. Moody of Chestertown, Md. and Lillian Nixon of Elizabeth City; one brother, William Barclift of Elizabeth City; two brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; and a host of relatives and friends.
A service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Zion Baptist Church, Dr. H. Edward Whitaker presiding. Burial will be in New Oak Grove Cemetery, Elizabeth City, N.C. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Watson Funeral will convey remains to Elizabeth City, N.C. immediately following the service. Fisher Funeral Home, Portsmouth, in charge.
