WILLIAM J. WHITE

William Joseph White, 81, of 805 Johnston St., died Sunday Feb. 6, 1996, in Bertie Memorial Hospital.

A native of Bertie County, Mr. White was the son of the late Annie Baker and Richard Henderson White and the husband of Mrs. Lois Barrow White. Mr. White was a member of the Edenton Baptist Church, a Navy veteran of World War II, and retired from the N.C. National Guard with 27 years service. He had worked for the Chowan Veneer Mill.

Surviving other than his wife is his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra W. and Benjamin Hernandez of Windsor, Va.; his son, William B. White of Newport News; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Evans Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Kenneth Word. Committal services will also be held in the chapel due to inclement weather. Burial will be private in the Beaver Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence.
