Virginia Power will receive a $179,000 grant from the Geothermal Heat Pump Consortium Inc. to promote geothermal heating and cooling technology. The grant will be used to promote construction of geothermal technology in new and retrofitted buildings owned by the state. Geothermal heating and cooling technology uses the Earth's heat to warm buildings in cold weather. The three primary targets for the project include the Virginia Community College System, the Virginia Department of Corrections, and the Virginia Department of Mental Health. USAir began offering a new incentive to the Frequent Traveler Program, VIP Miles, allowing for the purchase of USAir Frequent Traveler Miles. VIP Miles will be available to corporations, associations and organizations wishing to purchase these miles at 2 cents per mile, with a minimum order of 50,000 miles, in denominations of 500, 1,000, 2,500 and 5,000 miles.
