HAMIEL WHITE JR.

Hamiel White Jr., 75, of the 2400 block of Peach St., died Feb. 2, 1996.

He was retired from the Naval Air Station after 29 years of service. He was also the owner of Community Tax Service. He was a native of Nansemond County, Va., and a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church where he was Sunday school teacher, Bible school teacher, former steward, and Twilight Sunday School Teacher. He was also a member of the civic league and N.A.A.C.P.

He is survived by his wife, Louise White; four daughters, Marie Barfield, Pamela Mayo, Veronica Jamison, Cathy Venable; four sons, Hamiel White III, Alvin White, Rev. Donald White, and Kevin White; sister, Mamie Lathan; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday by the Rev. C.L. Harvin and the Rev. Donald White in Emanuel A.M.E. Church, Portsmouth. Burial is in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake. The family will be at the residence. Fisher Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
