While not generally taken to penning my exceptions to your paper's normally correct articles, this time I feel the need. The lead paragraph in ``Sherry hours at W&M give state a hangover'' (MetroNews , Feb. 2) is not only wrong, it's insulting. To state that ``what counts most'' at William and Mary is ``tradition'' demeans the high standards of academic achievement required to graduate. While tradition is held dear, its foundation remains hard work and academic excellence.
