DONALD L. MIDGETTE SR.

Donald L. Midgette Sr., 62, of the 1500 block of Janke Road, died Feb. 7, 1996, in a Norfolk hospital.

Mr. Midgette was born in Norfolk. He was retired from the Norfolk Naval Aviation Depot after 40 years of faithful service. He was a member of Westwood Hill Baptist Church in Chesapeake. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 until 1952, including participation in the Korean War. He was decorated with a Combat Infantryman Medal, Purple Heart, and the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Campaign Star.

Mr. Midgette was a member of Oceanview Masonic Lodge (NU)335, Norview Royal Arch Chapter (NU)62, Grice Commandry (NU)16, Norfolk Scottish Rite Bodies and Khedive Temple of the Shrine.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane Taplin Midgette; a daughter, Robin L.M. Robison; and a son, Donald L. Midgette Jr.; four grandchildren, Christina and Shawn Robison and Danyle and Asher Midgette, all of Virginia Beach.

The funeral will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, by the Rev. Jess Jackson and the Rev. Donald O'Dey. Burial with Masonic rites and military honors will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk. Friends may join the family at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 2730 Ellsmere Ave., Norfolk, Va. 23513.
