The Air Force awarded a $6.4 million contract to Landsea Systems Inc. of Virginia Beach to provide satellite communications kits for 305 cargo jets and tankers. The kits are to be installed on 124 C-141 ``Starlifters,'' 124 C-5 ``Galaxies'' and 57 KC-10 ``Extender'' tankers.
Newport News Shipbuilding got a $5.1 million Navy contract for a post-shakedown cruise availability on the attack submarine Tucson, which was commissioned in September. The yard will complete work deferred during the building of the sub.
The Navy awarded a $41.3 million contract to Woodland Hills, Calif.-based Litton Systems Inc. for repairs and support of carrier aircraft inertial navigation systems. About 25 percent of the contract work will be done at Litton System's offices in Norfolk. (Staff)
